Architectura Militaris - Fortifications in Northern Poland

It is not our aim to prepare a website which could be an expert study on fortifications in Northern Poland.
We have wandered through forests in search of structures, information on which is scarce.
Therefore we decided to share our knowledge and facilitate for others finding interesting places which are really worth seeing.
The area of our interest has been specified as Northern Poland and it encompasses: Mazury (the Lake District), Pomorze (Pomerania), Mazowsze (Mazowia) and Kujawy.
In general, it is supposed to be a photo gallery with accurate description and a short general introduction. To enable an orientation in space we will try to place location maps of various objects.
This web site should not be treated as an academic source. It presents up to date knowledge of its authors (in part based on assumptions), which is liable to change after learning from new sources or next visit to a given location.
The current pictures on this website have been taken by us (or our friends) and are our property. If anybody wants to use them it would be nice if he/she wrote the source under them.
This site would not have been created without the help of our friends and kind remarks of those friends who are more familiar with fortifications subject for which we would like to thank.

Museum of East Prussian Fortifications in Bakłarzewo invites all interested persons to visit reconstructed shelter type Regelbau 113d (two storey combat shelter with a 6-shooting range cupola type 20P7 up to 2 machine guns).
Opening hours: during the season (30th June – 31st August) the shelter is open to visitors from 10 am to 8 pm (till dusk).
Location: North of the national highway nr 653 Suwałki – Olecko, going from Suwałki turn right into a dirt road for 200m after the bridge over Rospuda River.
